How to start a disc golf club

Starting a disc golf club is an ideal way to develop the community in your region, organise your own events and actively join the structure of the Czech Disc Golf Association (ČADG).

The founding process is not complicated, but there are several steps to complete that ensure the club is properly set up and recognised within the sport system.

Why start a disc golf club

By founding a club, you gain:

the chance to build a local community of players
official standing within ČADG
the ability to host tournaments and events
access to the information system
voting rights at the ČADG General Meeting (depending on the size of your membership base)
better ČADG membership terms for your players

How to found a club

Founding a registered association takes very little. Of the three founding members, at least one must be over 18 — they can register the association by submitting the documents to the public register held at their regional court.

You will need to prepare:

the consent of the owner of the property where the association is registered, with certified signatures
the consent of the person serving as the statutory body (e.g. the chair) to be entered in the public register, together with their affidavit of legal capacity and absence of outstanding debts, with certified signatures
minutes from the founding General Meeting or a record of agreement among the founders, including the election of officers and the approval of the statutes
current statutes signed by the statutory body
the completed form from or.justice.cz

Signatures can be certified at municipal offices (free of charge for registered associations). Entry of the association into the register is also free.

Conditions for admitting a club to ČADG

Under the Statutes, a club can become a member of the association by submitting an electronic application.

Per the Executive Board's interpretation of 5 December 2024, a club will be admitted if it:

has a membership base — at least 3 of its primary club members are also ČADG members and take part in tournaments
upholds ČADG's good name
is active — has organised at least one event or tournament in the past 12 months

Registration in the Sports Register (NSA)

Registration in the Sports Register is essential for the club to be recognised within the sport system and to be counted in grant programmes.

The process:

register at rejstriksportu.cz using your IČO
fill in the organisation's details
confirm the registration by e-mail
send the confirmation to the NSA via Datová schránka
create the sports organisation (club)
fill in the details (disc golf as the main activity, type club/TJ)
add the umbrella organisations: the Czech Flying Disc Association (ČALD) and the Czech Disc Golf Association (ČADG)

Without this step, the club will not be recognised for the purposes of state support and will not be counted in the sport structure.

Affiliation with ČALD and ČADG

Once the registration is complete:

the club is confirmed by ČALD
the club is affiliated with ČADG
the integration process is complete

Active operation of the club

Once all the steps are complete, the club can operate fully:

organising tournaments and leagues
running training sessions
joining ČADG projects
working with young players
developing disc golf in its region

Important notice

If a club is not registered in the Sports Register and affiliated with ČALD, it will not be counted in the sport structure for state-support purposes. This can have consequences not only for the club but also for the funding of disc golf in the Czech Republic.
